Trisha Doswell, DVM
Dr. Doswell was born in Northern New Jersey but at the age of 3, her family moved to Melbourne Beach Florida...
She grew up playing sports (softball and volleyball) and music, was a local Girl Scout (cookies!) and traveled the world with her family and friends. Her passion for veterinary medicine developed while working with sea turtles, observing gopher tortoises and bobcats in her backyard and growing up with a variety of pets.
She went to the University of Florida for her undergraduate degree, where she received her B.S. in Animal Science: Animal Biology and a minor in Aquatic Animal Sciences. During her undergrad degree, she volunteered her time at the local SPCA and UF’s Equine Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Go Gators!
She received her DVM at St. George’s University on the gorgeous tropical island of Grenada in the West Indies, where she held positions in the student government and was the North American Veterinary Conference Representative and participated in One Health-One Medicine clinics. She performed her clinical year at Louisiana State University, where she concentrated on aquatic, exotic and canine/feline small animal medicine. This included rehabilitating iguanas, raptors, opossums, herons and many more. She completed her training in the Florida Keys working at an emergency referral hospital implementing her knowledge and growing her skills helping the canine and feline patients as well as exotics such as sea turtles, chameleons, parrots and many other feathered/shelled/scaled/furred friends. Throughout her journeys she fell in love with the multiple cultures and travel that gave her unforgettable life experiences (playing in Carnival, sailing the Caribbean, hikes through the rain forest, working with leatherback sea turtles, learning new cooking styles and developing friends from all over the world) while evolving her veterinary skills.
After vet school, she moved to Flagler Beach, FL, where she worked in small animal emergency and general practice medicine including avian, exotic and pocket pet medicine. Dr. Doswell developed an interest in behavior medicine where she became Fear Free Certified, which helps to prevent fear, anxiety and stress through gentle handling of pets and education of their individual pet’s needs. She wants to develop a peaceful experience for the pets and clients to obtain the best experience in their family’s pet’s care.
From Flagler Beach she moved to Marathon, FL where she had the privilege of being mentored by a world renowned exotic animal specialist. She also developed a passion in oncology through her own pets’ journeys (especially her beloved dog and companion Ziggy). While practicing in Marathon, she was lead of the hospital’s oncology cases. She is very empathetic and believes that every journey is a different experience. She wants to help guide families through their journey of the big “C” while giving the best quality of life for their pet through this difficult time. Dr. Doswell was also able to develop her professional interests in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and dentistry.
In 2019 she decided to move back home to the beautiful beachside of Melbourne Beach to be near family and lifelong friends. She resides with her dogs Toby (an energetic, sweet but mischievous Cocker Spaniel/Maltese mix) and Phoebe (a cuddly, silly, cancer survivor French Bulldog/Pug/Boston Terrier mix). In her off time she enjoys the beaches, exploring the treasures of Florida, crafts and cooking. And she hopes to start working with sea turtles again soon.
